KENYA DEFENCE FORCES PARTICIPATES IN SHOOTING COMPETITION

A team from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Rifle Association (DEFRA) participated in the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) championship held at Bamburi Rifle Club in Mombasa from 1st to 2nd October 2022.

Drawn from the three Services of the KDF, the participants joined other competitors drawn from the General Service Unit, the Kenya Police Service, the Kenya Prisons Service among other agencies, in competing in different shooting Divisions.

Corporal Irene Ndunda from Kenya Army emerged the overall winner in the Open Division Ladies Category while Corporal Muchiri Agatha from Kenya Airforce won in the Production Division Ladies Category.

The main purpose of the championship was to sharpen shooting skills, enhance self- defence, as well as promote safe handling of weapons.

IPSC is the world largest shooting sport association where competitions are held with pistol, revolver, rifle and shotgun and competitors are divided into different divisions based on firearm and equipment features.

The Confederation aims at promoting, maintaining and improving the sport of practical shooting.
