KENYA ARMY WELCOMES CS DEFENCE

The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Ministry of Defence Honourable Aden Duale on Thursday ,3rd November 2022, visited the Kenya Army Headquarters in Nairobi.

The visit was a familiarization and orientation tour to acquire a full appreciation of the Kenya Army Service, its organization, the current operational footprint and understanding its mandate in defending the territorial integrity of the Republic of Kenya.

The CS was received by Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Peter Njiru taken through the various departments within the Army.

The CS was briefed on the various roles and responsibilities the Service is currently undertaking in the country and outside the Kenyan borders as it executes its constitutional mandate as well as the plans of ensuring the arrowhead is sharpened.

In his address, the CS acknowledged the essential role played by the Kenya Army in delivering its core mandate of securing Kenya from external land based aggression.

“The Army is critical in the defence of the nation. I applaud you for being an elite service that is ready and efficient; I want to assure you on our support to enable you attain your mandate in accordance with the Constitution,” said Hon Duale.

The CS affirmed his commitment to enhance Army modernization ambitions, welfare of soldiers for mission readiness and urged them to continue with the same spirit and commitment of selfless service to the nation.

In his remarks, the Commander Kenya Army said the Army is strong and will continue to improve and enhance its capabilities to ensure that it is always ready to fulfill its obligations in the current dynamic and complex security situation globally.

Present during the occasion were General Officers, Formation Commanders, Chief of Branches, Senior Officers, Officers, Service Members and civilian staff members.
