KDF TROOPS PROVIDES HUNDREDS WITH FREE MEDICAL CARE IN SOMALIA

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops deployed under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) offered medical assistance to the residents of Burahache and Gherrile in Gedo region.

The medicamp benefited over 200 households with the elderly, women and children being the greatest beneficiaries as they were treated for various ailments with both curative and preventive medicines. The residents were also offered professional advice by the medical doctors on how to live healthy lives.

During the medicamp, the Commanding Officer Burahache Military Camp Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Rotich said the objective of the exercise is to enhance Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), which he noted was crucial in aiding AMISOM to fulfill its mandate.

In Hoosingo, the KDF troops donated medical supplies to Hoosingo Dispensary to benefit the local communities and boost medical services at the facility. The troops called for concerted efforts by all stakeholders to support and embrace community-based initiatives so as to bring lasting peace to Somalia.

The local administration and residents were grateful and thanked the KDF troops for their gesture and assured them of their continued support in the fight against terrorism in order to restore peace and stability in Somalia.

Elsewhere, the KDF troops based at Kolbiyow de-silted a dam in their area of responsibility, which will help in harvesting rainwater in the anticipated rainy season.
