KDF TAKES PART IN THE 19TH EDITION OF THE STANDARD CHARTERED MARATHON

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) led by the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Robert Kibochi, has today 30th October 2022 participated in the 19th edition of the Standard Chartered Marathon held at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.

The marathon dubbed ‘Run as One’ saw over 20,000 participants drawn from all walks of life take part in the marathon.

This year’s marathon incorporated different race categories namely; men and women’s 42Km race (full marathon), men and women’s 21Km race (half marathon), 21Km wheelchair race, men and women’s 10Km race, Corporate race and the 5Km family fun run.

The race saw elite runners Elias Kemboi Chelimo finish first in the men’s 42Km race, Sheila Chepkoech  finish first in the Women’s 42Km race, Daniel Ebenyo finish first in the men’s 21Km race and Evelyn Chirchir win the women’s 21Km race.

KDF led the corporate relay category to emerge position one.

The CDF flagged off the 42Km race and later took part in the 10Km race and crossed the finish line with vigour.

Also in participation were, the Assistant Chief of the Defence Forces(ACDF) in charge of Personnel and Logistics  Major General Muthuri Kiugu, 18th construction Brigade Commander Brigadier Joseph Muracia, Senior Officers and Officers.
