The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has today, 20 October 2022, participated in the 59th edition of Mashujaa Day celebrations held at the historical Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum. The national celebrations were presided over by His Excellency Hon. William Samoei Ruto, PhD President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces.
The Head of State, accompanied by Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi, inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the three Services; Kenya Army, Kenya Air Force and Kenya Navy, followed by a march-past by military personnel and other security and law enforcement agencies.
The celebrations also witnessed a fly-past by Kenya Air Force aircraft with some showcasing their tactical capabilities.
Mashujaa Day was adopted to celebrate Kenyan heroes and heroines both alive and those who’ve died for their immense contribution to the Country in different sectors and spheres.
In his address, the President acknowledged and celebrated the sacrifices by security agencies who continue to offer selfless service to the Country over the years saying that they are the modern day heroes and heroines.
He committed to ensure the Government’s support to the security agencies to combat terrorism and banditry which is rampant in various parts of the Country saying the security of the locals in these areas is as paramount as those of their counterparts in other parts of the Republic.
“It is time for this lawlessness to stop and stop for good. The Government shall undertake the necessary security alignment to ensure our people live in safety in every part of our nation,” said the President.
The event was attended by senior Government and military officials among them: Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Service Commanders, General Officers, Senior officers, Officers, Service Members among others.
