KDF DEFIES HEAVY RAINS TO OFFER RELIEF SUPPORT TO IJARA RESIDENTS

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel stationed at Matha Adon Forward Operating Base (FOB) on 05 April 23 distributed assorted relief food to residents of various parts of Garissa County that have been severely affected by massive floods as a result of heavy rainfall in the region.

The various areas that received the aid include Jalish, Bulaqoqan, Bultohana, Falama and Bulalakamul ranging from maize, beans, rice and cooking oil in line with the KDF mandated of collaborating with other authorities in times of disaster and emergencies.

The Officer Commanding the FOB Maj Ahmed G Juma who led the distribution thanked the local leaders for propagating peace and supporting the governments initiatives including the ongoing construction of the LAPSSET corridor.

“Peace must be our goal and our guide. All that we strive for as a human family is dignity, hope, progress and prosperity which depends on peace. I therefore urge you join me and other security agencies in committing to peace always,” said Maj. Ahmed.

The Chairman of Peace Initiative at Jalish Sub – Location Mr. Mohammed Omar thanked KDF for ensuring the area was pacified of against militants and for continued logistical support that has enabled the locals to access food during this holy month of Ramadan and rainy season.

“KDF has demonstrated without doubt that they have our interest at heart. Its barely two weeks back when other locals received your aid, we are forever grateful,. “he said.

Present during the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) exercise were area Chiefs for Jalash (Mr. Mahabub Hassan Jamale), Bulaqoqan (Mr. Ali Omar Dagane), Bultohana (Mr. Abdi Salan Shide) and Falama (Mr. Abdi Naste Noor) alongside the Officer Commanding Ijara Police Station (OCS) Mr Abdi Dumal.
