ITALIAN DEFENCE ATTACHÉ TO SOMALIA VISITS KENYA NAVY

Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Jimson Mutai hosted the Italian Defence Attaché (DA) to Somalia, Captain (Navy) Mario De Rosa in his office at the Kenya Navy Headquarters today.

During the visit, they discussed maritime security and collaborative opportunities in tackling the emerging maritime security threats.

The meeting is significant to bolster future cooperation and partnership in the field of counter-piracy and maritime security within the Western Indian Ocean.

Italian ships have continued to call on the Port of Mombasa for courtesy and routine logistics bolstering interoperability and collaboration between the two navies.

Present during the visit was Commander Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, Brigadier Peter Chelimo, Kenya Navy Headquarters Chief of Operations, Colonel Michael Atodonyang and Deputy Commandant Kenya Naval Training College, Lieutenant Colonel Javan Makunda.
