HEADQUARTER WING SHINES IN THE 2021 MOI AIR BASE INTER-WINGS CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

Moi Air Base (MAB), Headquarter (HQ) Wing emerged the overall winners of the 2021 MAB inter-wings cross country championship held at the MAB Sina Makosa Grounds on 27th October 2021. The runners-up were Air Defence Wing with Technical Wing taking the third position. The thrilling event was precided over by Brigadier Samwel Kipkorir, the Base Commander MAB.

In the men’s individual race, Spte Amos Birgen (Tactical Transport Wing) overcame a strong opposition to emerge the winner with a time of 29.56.6 minutes, he was closely followed by Spte Lawi Komen (Logistic Command) in second place and Spte Josphat Kemei (Logistic Command) finished third.

The women’s individual race was equally competetive, Spte Dorcas Kimeli (HQ Wing) emerged the winner with a time of 36.21.33 minutes, with Spte Pauline Korkwang (Technical Wing) and Cpl Elizabeth Mueni (HQ Wing) clinching the second and third places respectively.

The climax of the event was the 4 by 2 (8 Kilometers) Mixed Relay (Universal race), HQ Wing held on from the first lap to emerge winners, followed by Air Defence Wing and Technical Transport Wing in second and third places respectively.

Giving his remarks BC MAB Brig Kipkorir thanked the sponsors (Madison Group), organizers of the event, participants and supporters who turned up for making the event successful. He expressed optimism that the 22 athletes’ team selected to represent MAB at the upcoming KDF cross country championship would fly MAB’s flag high.

Also present during the event were Col Victor Kangethe the Wing Commander VIP, MAB COs, Officers, Service Members and officials from Madison Group led by Ms Ann Masete Unit Manager Madison Group.
