His Excellency the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, Hon. Rigvathi Gachagua, officially opened the Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF) today, 25th September 2024, at the Jamhuri Park Showground in Nairobi.
The NITF 2024 has attracted over 300 exhibitors from various sectors, including government institutions, agriculture, the private sector, small and medium enterprises, banking, and education.
As part of his itinerary, the Deputy President toured the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Pavilion, where he viewed various exhibits and engaged with MOD staff and personnel.
Among the stands he visited were Strategic Communications, Kenya Meat Commission, Kenya Shipyards Limited, and the Kenya Space Agency. He commended Kenya Defence Forces for their achievements, particularly in innovation and technology, aligning with this year’s NITF theme: “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.”
Later at the NITF Arena, the Deputy President presented trophies to winners in various categories. The Ministry of Defence received 11 awards, including:
• 1st Place in:
o Best Small Trade Stand (Commercial and Industrial)
o Best Government Ministry Stand
o Best Display in Data and Mobile Services
o Best Display and Service in the Health Sector and Pharmaceutical Stand
o Best Government Stand in Display and Presentation of Security Services
• 2nd Place in:
o Best Local Manufacturers Stand (Consumable)
o Best Local Manufacturers Stand (Non-Consumable)
o Best Financial Institution other than Bank
o Best Display and Presentation in Insurance Services Stand
• 3rd Place in:
o Best Stand in Research and Development (Non-Educational)
o Best Energy Services and Conservation Sector Stand.
The Trade Fair, which began on 23rd September, is set to conclude on 29th September 2024. Members of the public are invited to visit the MOD Pavilion to interact with the Ministry’s personnel and learn more about its operations.
