General Officer Commanding Eastern Command, Major General Juma Mwinyikai alongside OAB Commander Col. Joel Tanui and Deputy Commander 6 Brigade Col. Emmanuel Ptiony visited villages of Mararani and Mangai in Lamu County.
Also present during the visit were; Deputy Governor Lamu County Hon. Raphael Munyua, Lamu East MP Capt. Ruweidha Obo, Deputy Lamu Central County Commissioner Charles Kitheka and the local administration.
The visit identified areas of collaboration between the community members, relevant local government and security actors while executing their tasks for community and national development. The locals expressed their concerns on the security patrols and other developments agenda in the region.
The local leaders also appreciated KDF efforts inconjunction with those of other security agencies operating in the area for in their commitment and sacrifice to curb insecurity. Lauding the community engagement they called for reinvigorating and continuity of such forums with security agencies in order to strengthen the relationship and to achieve a common objective.
On his side Lamu Deputy Governor Hon. Munyua assured the locals that the County Government is committed in improving the overall health of the community as revamping of Boni dispensaries and Schools are currently underway through support of KDF, while his counterpart Lamu East MP. Capt Ruweidha Obo assured the locals that she would advocate at the National assembly for more teachers to be posted in the County and promised to support the students who had performed well in the recent KCSE & KCPE results.
Major General Juma Mwinyikai assured them that the National Government is committed to find a lasting solution to insecurity in the County.
