EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY CIMIC ACTIVITY WEEK COMMENCES.

The 3rd East African Community (EAC) Armed Forces’ Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Activities Week kicked off on 9th October 2021. The annual event that will be hosted by the Republic of Kenya prior to Kenya Defence Forces Day on 14th October 2021, is held rotationally by EAC member states.

EAC Armed Forces’ CIMIC week is a routine exercise meant to enhance regional integration on Defence matters by giving service to community and is held under the spirit of the EAC Protocol on Cooperation in Defence Affairs whose four pillars include military training, joint operations, technical cooperation, visits and exchange of information.

The five-day event will involve military medics from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda conducting free Medical Camps at Muumandu Level 3 hospital, Matuu Level 4 hospital, Ewaso Kedong Level 3 hospital, Mathare North dispensary, Babadogo dispensary and Kahawa West dispensary from 9th to 13th October 2021.

While conducting a free Medical Camp at Oltepesi dispensary, the EAC doctors successfully helped deliver a baby girl, the mother, Leah Kapaika, expressed her joy for delivering her third child safely and thanked the EAC doctors. The medics also attended to other patients majority of them being children and the elderly. Additionally they donated pharmaceutical drugs to the dispensary.
