DEFABA EMERGES VICTORIOUS IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE

The Defence Forces Amateur Boxing Association of Kenya (DEFABA) emerged victorious in the just concluded 4th leg of the national league which was held at Nanyuki.

Stakes were high in the highly entertaining and explosive tournament pitying some of the finest boxers in the country. Boxers from ten teams drawn from KDF, Kenya Police and other teams from various Counties fought their way to the top and emerged as the second last of the league after a series of 1st, 2nd and 3rd leg. At the climax of the competition, hard-hitting National Middleweight Champion, Corporal Edwin Okongo stopped Policeman George Cosby in the third round.

Addressing the event, DEFABA Chairman Brigadier Joakim Mwamburi lauded the Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) and Laikipia County boxing leadership for organizing and hosting the event.

Additionally, he acknowledged members of the national team (Hit Squad) who had Pre-Olympic training in Cuba in August this year. Further, he urged the federation to make efforts to bring trainer of trainers from Cuba so that more boxers could benefit from the expertise.

Also in attendance were Boxing Federation of Kenya Officials, and team members of DEFABA.
