CS DUALE HOSTS EGYPTIAN DEFENCE ATTACHÈ

Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale today hosted the Egyptian Ambassador to Kenya His Excellency Wael Nasreldin Attiya and Defence Attaché Brig Gen Walid Aboelezz who paid him a courtesy visit.

The CS noted that the Republic of Kenya and the Arab Republic of Egypt have over the years enjoyed cordial relations dating back to pre-independence period and have partnered extensively in various sectors key among them the defence domain.

Hon. Duale observed that there exists a robust Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) between the two States whose objective is to promote peace and security at regional and international levels.

Additionally, the two countries signed a Technical Agreement on Defence Cooperation in May 2021 which enables them partner in military medicine, technology transfer, joint manufacturing, military training and exchange programmes.

Military personnel from the two countries have undertaken various courses at the National Defence College (NDC)- Kenya and Nasser High Military Academy in Egypt since 2011. Also, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) service personnel and Egypt Armed Forces (EAF) have undertaken various exchange programmes at the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC)- Kenya and Command and Staff College (CSC) in Egypt since 2013.
