CS DUALE HOLDS TALKS WITH THE CZECH REPUBLIC AMBASSADOR

Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale has today held bilateral talks with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Kenya Her Excellency Ms. Nicol Adamcovà who paid him a courtesy visit at Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.

The CS noted that for years, the Czech Republic has been a key trade partner to Kenya. He underscored the need to explore more ways of bolstering the already existing bilateral ties.

According to the CS, the Czech Armed Forces has been training alongside the Special Forces of the Kenya Defence Forces since 2009 and this is key in knowledge and skills transfer.

Hon. Duale informed the Ambassador that the draft Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between the two countries which has been negotiated now awaits approval by the Cabinet.

Once ratified, the DCA shall enable the two countries to collaborate in the fields of defence and security, counter-terrorism, training and education as well as defence research and development.

The agreement shall further enable Kenya and the Czech Republic to partner in the defence industry, military medical services, joint defence welfare and disaster response.

Moreover, the two leaders observed that there exist numerous areas of possible future cooperation in the space sector, cyber security and green energy.

The CS was accompanied by Colonel Operations at the Defence Headquarters, Duncan Keitany.
