COMMANDER KENYA NAVY PRESIDES OVER SIGNING OF PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS

The Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Paul Otieno, on 29 August 2024 presided over the signing of Performance Contracts for the financial year 2024/2025. The event, which involved Formation Commanders and Kenya Navy Senior Officers, was held at the Kenya Navy (KN) Headquarters in Mtongwe, Mombasa.

Performance Contracts serve as strategic roadmaps with specific targets, guiding the Kenya Navy and its various formations and units in fulfilling their mandate to defend and protect the maritime sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kenya.

Major General Otieno commended the Formation Commanders and Senior Officers for their outstanding performance, which has resulted in the Kenya Navy maintaining clean books of accounts. He encouraged them to continue using resources prudently and in accordance with established guidelines to sustain the high level of excellence demonstrated by the Kenya Navy over the years.

“We have embarked on robust transformational systems and projects to enhance the Kenya Navy’s capabilities and address the welfare of our sailors. This will help us steer the service to the highest levels of effectiveness as we execute our mandate. Let us ensure that the resources provided are utilized to boost our capabilities and improve the welfare of our sailors and their families,” said Major General Otieno.

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Commander of the Kenya Navy, Brigadier Sankale Kiswaa, and Principal Staff Officers.
