COMMANDER COMBINED TASK FORCE 150 VISITS KENYA NAVY

Commander Combined Task Force (CCTF) 150 Captain James Byron of United Kingdom Royal Navy on 21 February 2023 concluded a two-day visit to the Kenya Navy during his regional cooperation tour in Mombasa.

Combined Taskforce Force (CTF) 150 is one of the four task forces operated by Combined Maritime Forces (CMF)-a multinational naval partnership made up of 34 countries. CTF 150 conducts Maritime Security Operations (MSO) outside the Arabian Gulf to ensure legitimate commercial shipping in the Western Indian Ocean, Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, free from non-state threats.The Mission of CTF 150 is to disrupt criminal and terrorist organizations and their related illicit activities by restricting their freedom of maneuver in their maritime domain.

During the visit, Captain James Byron met the Commander Kenya Navy Fleet (KNF)Brigadier Sankale Kiswaa and Kenya Navy Chief of Operations Colonel Michael Atodonyang. They discussed issues of maritime security and various ways Kenya can benefit from regional partnership with CMF.

Captain James Byron was accompanied by United Kingdom Deputy Defence Attaché to Kenya Ed Black and the Danish Liaison Officer Commander Senior grade Gaard Frederickson.
Kenya is currently partnering with CMF to achieve the mission in the East African Coast.
