CHIEF OF DEFENCE FORCES’ BORA CUP CHAMPIONSHIP OFFICIALLY KICKS OFF

The Commandant Defence Headquarters Camp Administration Unit (DHQ CAU) Colonel Lawrence Ntoyai, the chairman of the Defence Forces Netball Association (DFNA), has today 27th February 2023 on behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces, General Robert Kibochi, presided over the official opening of the CDF Bora Cup Championship at the Ulinzi Sports Complex – Lang’ata.

The five-day championship which aims at promoting friendship and physical fitness brings together service personnel from different Defence Brigades, Formations and Bases, in a bid to enhance cohesion and promote esprit-de-corps within the services.

In his opening remarks, Colonel Ntoyai stressed the idea of engaging in friendly matches and emphasized maintaining high standards of discipline among the players. He further echoed how the championship will serve as an arena for players to display their prowess where the best players will be selected to boost the current Ulinzi team and get an opportunity to represent the country in the ongoing national league and tournaments sponsored by the Ministry of Defence.

CDF Bora Cup challenge returns after suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The next championship is slotted to take place later in April at the same venue.

Present during the ceremony were Commandant Ulinzi Sports Complex Colonel Olenauwankas, officials from Defence Forces Sports Control Board, Defence Forces Netball Association and the Kenya Netball Federation Executive Committee members.
