CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF WITNESS AFINDEX CLOSING CEREMONY

General Manoj Pande, India Chief of the Army Staff led Chiefs of Army from Africa and other senior military leaders in the closing ceremony of Africa-India Field Training Exercise – 2023 (AFINDEX 2023) on 29 March 2023 in Pune, India. The aim of the Field Training Exercise was to sharpen the skills and capabilities of participating troops to closely work together in various operations in future.

During the closing address, General Pande stated that the exercise has been successful with the troops from the participating nations demonstrating stellar and professional training standards. He further hailed the troops for their mutual cooperation and showing great keenness and enthusiasm to learn from each other in the entire period of the exercise.

In his speech, Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Peter Njiru thanked the Indian Army for offering the participating nations a platform to share their experiences, analyse the complex security environment and develop sustainable solutions to the emerging security and defence threats. He also said, the participating nations will document well the lesson learnt and utilise them to improve future training and operations.

The participating troops showcased an impressive display of various tactical drills which included protection of civilians, the establishment of standing combat deployment, convoy protection, patrolling aspects and neutralisation of Improvised Explosive Devices. The exercise brought together troops from 26 African Nations. AFINDEX 2023 was held on the sidelines of the India-Africa Army Chiefs Conclave.
