CHANGE OF GUARD AT KENYA ORDNANCE FACTORIES CORPORATION

The Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation (KOFC) today held a handing over ceremony of the corporation’s Managing Director (MD)at its headquarters in Eldoret. In the new changes in leadership, Major General Dennis Kamuri has been handed the relay baton by Major General Martin Kizito Ong’oyi, who completed a successful mandate as Managing Director, a position he has held for three years since 2020.

This comes after the President and Commander-in- Chief of the Defence Forces, Dr. William Ruto, promoted Major General Kamuri from the rank of Brigadier in the recent promotions within KDF. Prior to his new role, Major General Kamuri served as the Chief of Infrastructure at the Defence Headquarters until two weeks ago when he handed over to his successor Brigadier Titus Sokobe.
In his remarks, the outgoing MD KOFC Major General Ong’oyi appreciated the staff for their support throughout his tenure and further urged them to accord his successor the support they had given him by working hard in their respective departments and being innovative in their operations.
“At KOFC, you are taking over a competent and dynamic team that will no doubt make your job successful,” he said, further pointing out that the institution requires a blend of military and civilian skills in its operations as the human resource comprises civilian and military professionals.

In his acceptance speech Major General Kamuri appreciated the outgoing MD and hailed him as a stickler for excellence, lauding him for successfully managing the institution for three years. “As we take over the noble task of running KOFC, I urge all of us to work together as a team and support each other while continuing the good work that Major General Ong’oyi started,” he said to the staff members present.
On the same platform, other top managers in the institution whose term at the institution had ended also handed over to incoming officers. Key among them was the outgoing Deputy Managing Director Brigadier Maurice Mwangi who handed over office to Brigadier Omari Rajab.

KOFC is a state-owned corporation mandated to manufacture hardware machinery and equipment. KOFC is a State Corporation within the Ministry of Defence mandated with the manufacture of hardware, machinery, equipment, small arms, and ammunition and the fabrication of high-precision tools among others.
