BUILDING A HEALTHY COMMUNITY FOR RAMA RESIDENTS

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating in Somalia under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) recently donated medical drugs to the newly constructed Rama health center at Beles Qooqani and carried out a medical camp that benefited more than seventy local residents.

The health centre, four ablution blocks and all round fence were constructed by ATMIS.

The Officer Commanding Beles Qooqani Forward Operating Base (FOB), Major Atukon noted that such infrastructure will be helpful to the community which for a while suffered lack of a medical facility.

Dr. Mohamed Ali Koriyow, the medic in charge of the health centre, appreciated the project and the donation noting that it stood to benefit the community.

“For a while now, this community has suffered due to lack of a health center. People had to walk miles to find medical assistance. The health center and the drugs donated will be of great help to the community,” added Dr. Koriyow.
