ATMIS DEPUTY FORCE COMMANDERS VISIT KISMAYO TROOPS

The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) Deputy Force Commander in charge of Operations and Plans, Major General Marius Ngendabanka, and the Deputy Force Commander in charge of Support and logistics Major General Peter Muteti, on Monday 13th March 2023, visited troops serving under ATMIS in Kismayo to assess their welfare.

The two Commanders held discussions with the Deputy Sector Commander Colonel Tesfaye Negash and inspected some of the Sector VI facilities manned by Kenyan and Ethiopian troops, including Level One Hospital which is critical in providing medical support to the troops. They commended the Kenyan and Ethiopian contingents for their support to the Somali National Army (SNA) in the fight against Al-Shabaab militants and for ensuring the security and stability of Kismayo and its environs.

On his part, the Deputy Sector VI Commander, Colonel Negash highlighted the progress made in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

“We are working in conjunction with the SNA in building their capacity and fighting enemy forces within our operation areas”, stated Colonel Negash.

The two Commanders were accompanied by Senior Officers from the Force Headquarters and other Officials.
