AMISOM SECTOR II COMMANDER LAUNCHES COVID-19 BOOSTER JAB

Sector II Commander Brigadier Jattani Gula  recently launched the COVID-19 booster vaccination program at the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Level 2 Hospital, in Dhobley.

During the launch, the Sector Commander urged the Kenya Defence Forces troops to take the booster jabs and continue adhering to the laid down COVID-19 prevention protocols to ensure they remain mission-ready while deployed at AMISOM.

“Protecting yourself is caring for your brother. Let us all get vaccinated to maintain a strong force posture while carrying out our duties,” said Brigadier Gula.

The AMISOM Level 2 Hospital Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Ali Mohamed noted that the booster dose is relevant to enhance protection from the virus as the vaccines strengthen the body in fighting against infections and serious illness.

” A booster shot is recommended after six months for the fully vaccinated as it offers an additional layer of immunity. Protection from the initial vaccines can wane over time,” added the Commandant.

Present during the occasion were the outgoing Sector Commander Brigadier Jeff Nyagah, Deputy Sector Commander Colonel Maiyo, Officers and Service Members.
