AMBASSADOR ROBERTS SCOTT AND THE DEPUTY ARMY COMMANDER VISIT JA24 PARTICIPANTS AT HPSS

The Southern European Task Force in Africa (SETAF-AF), Deputy to the Commander for Civil-Military Engagement (DCME), Ambassador Roberts Scott accompanied by the Deputy Army Commander (DAC) Major General David Tarus today on 6th March 2024 visited the Justified Accord 2024 participants at Humanitarian Peace Support School at Embakasi Garrison in Nairobi.

During the briefing, Amb. Scott and his team received a comprehensive overview of the HPSS and the two-week Exercise Justified Accord 2024 Academic Plan. Later on, the team visited the participants in the various syndicates.

Making his remarks during the tour, Ambassador Scott conveyed his gratitude to all the participants for availing themselves for the exercise, noting that the team is delighted to support them in their endeavors for the exercise is hugely important to all nations to reach the common set goals. He also thanked the host for giving incredible hospitality to the participants.

“We are pleased to welcome representatives from Somalia for the first time to join us. The focus that you’re bringing to this across all domains and looking at interoperability is impressive. We are looking forward to engaging with as many of you as possible to see what you’re doing and ultimately to build on what we’ve done as we continue to work together to provide for a secure continent,” added Amb. Scott.

Speaking during the ceremony, Maj Gen David Tarus also welcomed Amb. Scott and his team and commended the participants for their resilience and determination in partaking in the Command Post Exercise (CPX). He added that the participants speaking different languages with different experiences and different operating environments and working together towards one objective will make work even easier wherever they are in a multinational set. He noted that the training is very important for there is no way soldiers can be deployed for an operation or even attend to any emergency if they don’t have any prior knowledge.

“I am pleased to see that you are capable of building your skills to successfully carry out any assigned duties or appointments. Additionally, it is important to note that there are field training exercises taking place in various locations across the country, which involve physical and practical exercises in desert and forest environments,” explained Major General Tarus.

Present during the visit were leadership team of the Southern European Task Force in Africa (SETAF-AF), Brigadier General John LeBlanc, the Deputy Commanding General of SETAF-AF, Brigadier Kalin Mark, and Colonel Adontis Atkins, Director of Signal Operations SETAF-AF, HPSS Commandant Colonel John Rongoei, Senior officers from KDF and SETA-AF, Kenya Defence Sergeant Major, W01 Elijah Koranga and Kenya Army Sergeant Major, W01 David Murage.
