Kenya Air Force (KAF) soldiers drawn from Moi Air Base (MAB), Logistics Command and Headquarter Wing, on 4th April 2023 took advantage of the ongoing rains by participating in a tree planting exercise at Konza City, Machakos County.

The team led by Commanding Officer, Central Supply Depot (CSD) Lieutenant Colonel Evans Oduma was received by head of security Konza City, Corporal (Rtd) David Onyango.

During the exercise over 5000 tree seedlings were planted with the main focus being to achieve a better environment by planting as many seedlings as possible across the country.

These efforts are part of President William Ruto’s initiative, which aims to plant 15 billion trees by 2032 and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Environmental Soldier Programme dubbed “Towards Total National Defence”.

Speaking during the exercise, Lt Col Oduma applauded all the soldiers for a job well done and encouraged everyone to plant more trees on a individual level. “I’m very happy to see all of you putting in efforts in planting more trees but we can do better by planting trees at our homes or former schools on an individual level,” he added.

Also present during the exercise were, Officers, KAF Sergeant Major and Service members drawn from MAB.
