OPENING OF LARISORO MATERNITY WARD

On 11th June 2021 KDF East COM Commander Major General Ayub Matiri presided over the handing over of a newly constructed Maternity ward built by School of Combat Engineering (SOCE) to Kalama Wildlife conservancy officials and residents.

Maj Gen Matiri said that during operation “ondoa nanasi” (Demolition of Unexploded Ordinance) which he previously presided over, he was touched by the plight of expectant mothers who travel all the way to Archer’s Post using motorbikes for delivery.

“We look forward to similar initiatives in future through our Civil Military Cooperation projects so that we can better the lives of the locals by refurbishing and building new social amenities”, he said.

The EastCom Commander also promised that KDF will purpose to adopt, educate and later employ the first child to be born in the newly constructed maternity ward who will be named after the School of Combat Engineering (SOCE) that constructed the facility. He also urged the locals to take care of the environment by watering the already planted trees and planting many more.

Guests present lauded KDF for their continued partnership to support the community as it will go along way not only to improve livelihood but also create and a good working environment between the soldiers and locals based in the area.

The ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Colonel K M Said School Commandant (SOCE), Major K M Miriti Chief Instructor (SOCE), Tom Lolosoli Manager Northern Range Trust (NGO), Michael Esimeto Chairman Larisoro Dispensary and Nabiki Lesuper board members of Larisoro Dispensary among others.
