A medical team from the Kenya Navy Hospital offered on 9th August 2021 offered medical treatment to eight Comorians at the Malindi Subcounty hospital on 9 Aug 2021.
The team, led by Major (Dr) Charles Dulo attended to the survivors of a boat wreck which occurred at the deep sea off Watamu.
The incident occurred when a small boat ferrying 15 Comorians from Nzuani Island to Mayotte Island developed engine problems and started capsizing. The crew were stuck at sea for 22 days unfortunately losing seven sailors.
The eight survivors were rescued by local fishermen from Watamu area, taken to Malindi sub county and received medical care from the Kenya Navy medical team.
