COMMANDER PEPIJN VERSTAND OF THE ROYAL NETHERLANDS NAVY VISITS THE KENYA NAVY HEADQUARTERS

Commander Pepijn Verstand from the Royal Netherlands Navy paid a courtesy call to Commander Kenya Navy Major General Jimson Mutai, at the Kenya Navy Headquarters in Mtongwe on 07 June 2021.

The two leaders held consultative talks geared towards safeguarding Kenya’s maritime domain, economic development under the blue economy, development of Kenya Navy and civil-military cooperation in efforts to cope with the evolving maritime security challenges.

The aspect of the blue economy in economic development was highlighted as a national and collective responsibility.

The two leaders noted that it is therefore prudent for other maritime agencies be involved in the protection, development and exploitation of the blue economy.

They also explored on future areas of collaboration that can be exploited by the navies in terms of training and operations to strengthen strategic security relationship.
