MEDICINE FOR THE PEOPLE OF KIZINGITINI, PATE ISLAND
Multi Agency Security forces in Lamu operating under Operation Amani Boni (OAB) facilitated a free Medical camp at Kizingitini – Pate Island in coordination with Lamu county health department. OAB Medical personnel & clinicians from the Kizingitini Dispensary attended to over 200 patients at Kizingitini dispensary.
The most prevalent infections noted were urinary, respiratory, gastrointestinal & skin infections. Most of the elderly patients attended to were noted to have high blood pressure, diabetes or both.
Present during the commencement of the activity was the DCC Faza Island Mr Wilberforce Kilonzo, Police inspector B. Wachira, the area chief Mr. Luqman Aboud Bwana & the chairperson Kizingitini Dispensary Mr. Mhaji Sheumbe.
In his remarks, the DCC commended the community for their cooperation with the KDF & the other security agencies in maintaining peace & security in the island. He expressed his gratitude to the Commander OAB Colonel David Chesire for his goodwill & the commitment that he has shown in support for the community. He encouraged the community to join efforts with the KDF troops in Boni & all the security agencies in the area so that together they uplift the livelihoods of the people living in Pate island.
The residents were very grateful for the Medical Camp with most making requests for more medical camps in the future.
OAB continues to collaborate with the local communities in the Boni enclave to better the security situation and promote government efforts on service delivery and socio-economic development.
