TREE GROWING AT WAJIR AIR BASE

On 10 May 2024, Wajir Air Base, Wajir County leadership and partner institutions carried out a tree growing exercise at the Base in honor of the flood victims across the country.

Commander 8 Brigade Brigadier David Chesire welcomed the participants on behalf of Base Commander Wajir Air Base, Brig Stephen Sane.

During the exercise 5000 tree seedlings were planted in support of the government plan to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.

Wajir County Commissioner Mr Karuku Ngumo led the paricipants in observing one minute silence in honor of the flood victims and appreciated KDF for making the greatest efforts to plant and nurture trees under the Environmental Soldier Program.

The Regional Conservator Miss Ambia Osman appreciated KDF for being supportive in tree conservation within the base towards improving forest cover and appreciated the team for achieving the day’s target.

Present during the exercise was Base Adjutant WAB and county security team, North Eastern Regional Conservator Miss Ambia Osman, County Forestry Chief Officer, Chiefs from the region, partner institutions and other security agencies.
