5KR HOLDS AN INTERACTIVE FORUM

5th Battalion the Kenya Rifles (5KR) held a social event that brought together both serving and retired officers at the Unit located in Gilgil.

The event themed ‘Fighting Five Memories Rekindled’ and which was orgarnized by the Unit’s Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Japheth Mulwa aimed to celebrate the Unit’s achievements and provide a reunion opportunity for the officers who served and those presently serving at the Unit.

Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General (Rtd) Augustino Njoroge applauded the Commanding Officer for the initiative that was first of its kind at the Unit.

“I appreciate the effort that went into organising this event. This is a unique forum where veterans are accorded an opportunity to mentor the young officers,” he commended.

Major General William Shume who led the event appreciated the officers for the continued commitment towards building the Unit’s esprit de corps which has been fundamental to the Unit’s successes.

“Unit cohesion is critical at fostering the moral component of fighting power and builds on the Unit’s will to fight and perform other duties as a unified entity,” he noted as he encouraged the Unit to hold more of such forums.

Retired General Officers including Major General Joseph Kivunzi, Major General Maurice Oyugi, Commissioner General of Prisons Brigadier John Warioba, Senior Officers and Unit officers attended the event.
