KDF SOLDIER ARRAIGNED BEFORE COURT MARTIAL OVER RECRUITMENT MALPRACTICES

Captain Joshua Muange Mulang’a of Kenya Navy (KN) was today arraigned before a court-martial at Kahawa Garrison to answer various charges of recruitment malpractices where he was allegedly accused of fraud and obtaining money by false pretence during the 2021 recruitment exercise.

Capt. Mulang’a was charged with obtaining money by false pretence contrary to Section 313 of the Penal code and conduct to prejudice of good order and service discipline contrary to section 121 of the KDF Act, 2012.

He was accused of obtaining Ksh 50,000 on February 11, 2021 from Recruit Abdulaziz Barisa Shambaro and Recruit Francis Nguah Mwandege with a promise that he would successfully influence the recruitment in their favour charges he pleaded not guilty. The case was adjourned to give the defence sufficient time to prepare before a pre-trial session on 1 November 2021.

Kenya Defence Force Is determined to protect the credibility of the recruitment exercise by getting rid of rogue and corrupt personnel in the pretext of offering them military jobs. Integrity remains a critical pillar in the character of KDF.
