The Commander Kenya Air Force (KAF), Major General John Omenda paid a visit to the Wajir Air Base (WAB) on Monday, 14th November 2022. This is part of the Commander KAF’s end year routine visits to all KAF Bases with the aim of assessing their Operational readiness and motivating Service Personnel.
The Commander KAF was received by the Base Commander WAB Brigadier Stephen Sane and was then briefed on the state of the Base.
While addressing WAB Personnel in a baraza, Maj Gen Omenda congratulated the Base for it’s exemplary performance in ensuring that Air Defence is maintained. He also stated that he has plans of coming up with improved infrastructure in order to boost better working conditions.
“I urged you to be flexible with the working days and hours and increase your level of alertness in order to overcome security challenges,” added Maj Gen Omenda.
Finally, Maj Gen Omenda urged WAB Personnel to observe COVID 19 measures as he wished them a merry Christmas and a happy new year
During the visit, the Commander KAF inspected various projects within the Base among them being construction of the Wajir Aviation Hospital, the Base hanger as well as recarpeting of the airstrip.
Also present during the event were 2 Brigade Commander Brig William Kamoiro, Deputy Base Commander WAB Colonel Joseph Kigen, Senior Officers, Officers and Service Members.
