STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY BONDS THROUGH CIMIC ACTIVITIES

Kenya Army troops based at Idido in Marsabit County conducted Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities and Community Engagement at Forolle. The aim of the event is to spread the message of peace between the local communities as well enhancing Civil-Miltary Cooperation.

The six days Peace Tournament that commenced on 16 August 2024 include a Football Tournament and water distribution to the locals community and Forole school. The event brought together a total of six teams from KDF Idido and neighboring villages of Elle Bor, Forolle and Eli-Adi. Additionally, Qaliti Queens and Sabar FC the young girls of Forolle and Elle Bor respectively will also take part in the tournament.

The Officer Commanding Idido military camp, Major David Obwiri and other organizers of the event addressed the locals during the opening ceremony. They urged the locals especially the youth to preach peace in order to ensure all communities coexist peacefully.

Maj Obwiri also held a meeting with the area youth led by Mr Elema, the area chief, Hassan Diba who is an area member of youth peace committee, among other leaders within the area. The event was attended by more than 200 people from the local community.
