OAB COMMANDER REINFORCES COMMITMENT TO SECURITY IN WITU

Operation Amani Boni Commander Col. Joel Tanui visited the National Police Reservist (NPR) in Witu, Lamu County. He was received by Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Witu, Mr. Emmanuel Wesley Koech.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the security and operational state as well as to assure the troops of his support..

In his address, Col. Tanui thanked them for their commitment and dedication to serving the nation against criminal and armed groups that want to hinder the peace, and social – economic development of the country.

“We’ve covered a significant milestone since the inception of OAB; your understanding of the operating environment has been crucial to achieving the mandate of the operation. I’d like to encourage you to remain focused and steadfast to the mission and the objectives of this operation as we continue to provide much-needed security to the citizens.” Said Col. Tanui

ACC Mr Koech noted that the NPR has been instrumental in providing security, and their understanding of the area of responsibility combined with the capacity and expertise of other security agencies have led to notable changes and successful operations.

“The National Government recognizes your spirited efforts to protect the territorial borders of our country; your efforts have contributed to deter and reduce enemy activities. As we are aware the enemy is still active, so let us remain vigilant.” said ACC Koech.

Col. Tanui was accompanied by commanders from the General Service Unit, the Administration Police Service, the Kenya Forest Service, and the Kenya Wildlife Service.
