OAB COMMANDER MEETS SOLDIERS

Operation Amani Boni (OAB) Commander, Brigadier Joel Maiyo, recently visited Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers stationed at various Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) to assess their operational readiness and identify areas needing additional support for effective mission execution.

During his visit, Brig. Maiyo praised the soldiers for their dedication to duty and their aggressive patrols in their areas of responsibility that were instrumental in degrading and denying the enemy freedom of movement and action.
“We highly appreciate your efforts in safeguarding the territorial integrity of our republic by continuing to degrade the enemy on the frontlines. These efforts have significantly contributed to the reduction of enemy activities,” said Brigadier Maiyo.

Brig. Maiyo highlighted the critical role the soldiers play in fostering socio-economic growth within their areas of operation through Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities. He commended their efforts in supporting local communities, especially vulnerable groups like women and the youth, by providing economic opportunities, healthcare, and infrastructure improvements.

“Your primary mandate is fighting terrorism and peace enforcement. However, I must commend your engagement with local residents through providing economic empowerment, medical services, and improving infrastructure such as roads and schools. These initiatives are essential for peace and development within the community,” he stated.

The OAB Commander reassured the troops that measures to enhance their operational capabilities would continue and urged them to stay vigilant to address all security threats.

Among the FOBs visited were Sinai, Sarira, BP27, and Usalama, accompanied by senior officers and personnel from OAB Headquarters.
