On September 20, 2024, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops, operating under Operation Amani Boni (OAB), laid a foundation stone for the construction of classrooms and an ablution block at Kiangwe Primary School in Lamu East Sub-County.
Representing the Commander of OAB, the Chief of Operations at OAB, Lt. Col. Moses Muchemi, reaffirmed KDF’s commitment to supporting the local administration and the Lamu County Government in enhancing education in the region. He emphasized that this initiative reflects KDF’s role in community development, complementing their primary mission of ensuring security.
During the event, multi-agency troops, in collaboration with Lamu East Sub-County officials, donated various items to the school, including sanitary towels. Lamu East Member of Parliament, Hon. Ruweida Obo, commended KDF for their contributions and praised the partnership that is transforming schools in the sub-county.
Senior officers in attendance included OAB Chief of Staff, Mr. Wilberforce Kilonzo, General Service Unit (GSU) Agency Commander Mr. William Mwanzau SSP, and other multi-agency personnel.
