The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops, stationed under Operation Amani Boni (OAB) at the Ras Kamboni Forward Operating Base, recently contributed two 10,000-litre water tanks to support local mosques amid severe water shortages caused by prolonged drought. This donation, organized by Major Philomen Mwangala, the Battery Commander, underscores the KDF’s commitment to assisting communities affected by the challenging climate.
The tanks were handed over in a ceremony attended by mosque leaders, community representatives, and Mayor Mohamed Muktar of Ras Kamboni. In addition to the donation, KDF troops filled the tanks with water, providing immediate access to clean water for domestic and religious purposes.
Mayor Muktar expressed deep gratitude, highlighting the relief the tanks provide during this difficult season.
“We deeply appreciate the KDF’s dedication to not only securing our region and our borders but also addressing critical challenges like water scarcity,” he said.
Major Mwangala reiterated KDF’s commitment to both security and community welfare, stating,
“Our mission goes beyond maintaining peace; it includes improving the lives of the communities we serve.”
This donation forms part of KDF’s broader Humanitarian Civic Assistance (HCA) efforts under OAB, fostering strong ties with the local community while maintaining regional stability.
