ROMAN CATHOLIC FAMILY DAY AND MASS WEDDING CELEBRATIONS

ROMAN CATHOLIC FAMILY DAY AND MASS WEDDING CELEBRATIONS

The Kenya Defence Forces Roman Catholic faithful today, 4 August 2024, congregated for a family day thanksgiving and mass wedding celebration in St Peter & Paul Cathedral at the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.

The Mass was presided over by the Military Ordinariate of Kenya Apostolic Administrator, Colonel (Monsignor) Fr. John Njeru assisted by the Parish Priest Major (Fr) Francis Chikopwe.

While addressing the faithful, Col (Msgr) Fr. Njeru reminded them to always give thanks to God for everything, including the gift of life. He added that thanksgiving is a critical element in Christian life and encouraged them to remain strong in faith in Christ.

The Apostolic Administrator also led in uniting five couples. Among the couples were two service members and three civilian staff. After carefully saying their vows, the couples sealed their union by exchanging rings.

The Chief Guest, General Officer Commanding Eastern Command (EASTCOM), Major General Luka Kutto, who is also the Patron of the deanery, congratulated the newlyweds and urged them to remain faithful and true to their vows. He further acknowledged the efforts of the faithful in enabling today’s family day to be a success. Additionally, Maj Gen Kutto encouraged the faithful to do more to ensure the full realization of the completion of the new church.

The concept of family day and mass wedding celebrations not only reflects the communal spirit of the military but also provides a platform for celebrating love and commitment amidst the demands of military life.

Present during the event were Senior Officers, Officers, Service Members, and their families, among other guests.
