Garrison Commander Lang’ata Barracks, Brigadier Isaako Jardesa on behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Robert Kibochi officiated over the closing ceremony of the CDF Bora Cup Championship, held at Langata Sports Complex in Nairobi.

The week-long championship comes to a halt after a series of matches between various Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Brigades, Formation, Units, and Bases from across the country.

Speaking during the closing ceremony Brigadier Jardesa highlighted the importance of the championship noting its main purpose of creating a platform to foster friendship and good relations amongst KDF by bringing together service personnel.

He further commended the Ulinzi team, “The Ulinzi Swords” for their exemplary performance in the ongoing netball games and for observing high-level discipline.

Commandant Defence Headquarters Camp Administration Unit (DHQ CAU) and Chairman Defence Forces Netball Association (DFNA) Colonel Lawrence Ntoyai, expressed his utmost appreciation to all the teams for upholding high standards of discipline and professionalism throughout the matches.

During the competition, the Nairobi team put up stiff competition throughout the matches, thrashing Moi Airbase in the finals to garner 46 points to scoop the coveted championship title while 8th Brigade emerged as the most improved team. Corporal Caroline Magoha was named the championship best scorer while center-back Private Irene Adhiambo emerged as the most valuable player.

The championship provided a platform for the next Ulinzi team selection to represent the country and KDF at large in the international scene.
