KEY LEADERSHIP ENGAGEMENT IN GARISSA

15 Kenya Rifles troops, conducted a Key Leadership Engagement (KLE) with elders from Ruqa village, Garissa County.

The Officer Commanding, Major Vincent Ngole, emphasized the importance of building a strong relationship between the locals and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to collaboratively address cases of insecurity.

Major Ngole highlighted the necessity of working together to defeat the common enemy, stating, “I request you to continue working and to sensitize the locals in this area to put more effort in our common fight against the threat of Al Shabaab.”

The elders expressed their gratitude to the KDF personnel for hosting them and appreciated the efforts made by the KDF to secure the area and flush out Al Shabaab. They noted that the area has been relatively calm since the KDF’s deployment and expressed confidence that it will soon be completely free from Al Shabaab activities.

Speaking on behalf of the elders, Mr. Ali Abdi Mohammed requested the provision of network coverage by establishing a communication mast in the area to enhance communication and information sharing. He noted, “This area lacks good network coverage which inconveniences prompt sharing of information, especially with security agencies in case of Al Shabaab activities within the area.”
