The Kenya Defence Forces in collaboration with the Ministry of Health led a Breast Cancer awareness campaign and launch of National Breast Cancer Action Plan 2021/2025 in Nakuru County Referral Hospital during a two days program offering breast, cervical and prostrate cancer screening at the hospital.
Colonel (Dr) Kwame Orowenyo urged residents to go for screening for early detection which greatly saves lives. He further added that breast cancer is the leading killer especially in developing countries due to lack of screening and late diagnosis.
Dr Lenai, Incharge of Health Centre Coordination and International Health Relations in the Ministry of Health thanked the organisations collaborating and contributiting to the fight against cancer and assured cancer patients that through the National Government they will strive to make cancer services free and readily available.
Present during the launch were KDF officers, service members and representatives from National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) Nakuru county Government, Kenya Network of Cancer Organisation (KENCO) and Clinton Health Access Initiative(CHAI).
