ENHANCING COHESION AND INTEGRATION THROUGH SPORTS

Commander of Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU), Brigadier S.M. Huria, today launched the 2024 Sports for Peace – Baringo Chapter at Chemolingot grounds. The event, organized by the Multi-Agency Security team, Peace Ambassadors, and various non-governmental organizations, is set to run for three days.

Themed “Run, Play, and Dance for Sustainable Peace,” the event has brought together youth from the six counties of the North Rift to promote cohesion and integration, fostering peaceful coexistence among communities that have long been affected by the banditry crisis in the region.

The event aims to provide a platform for young people to enhance their skills through sports, offering them a constructive alternative to engage in. Additionally, it serves as an opportunity for youths from diverse communities to interact, share ideas, and discuss their roles in fostering peace while strengthening social bonds.

Addressing the participants, Brig Huria expressed gratitude to both the organizers and players for their efforts to promote peace in the region.
“We are all peace ambassadors, and it is only by working together that we will succeed in this mission,” said Brigadier Huria.
