The Defence Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited (DESACCO) held a delegates’ empowerment training at Kahawa Garrison Officers’ mess last week.
The training which brought together over 100 delegates across from all the three Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Services aimed at enhancing the delegates’ understanding of cooperatives, SACCO regulatory framework and their role in SACCO development as the first line of contact with members.
Speaking at the training, Defence Headquarters Chief of Compensation and Welfare who is also the Vice-Chairperson of DESACCO Board of Directors Brigadier Charles Mwazighe said that DESACCO is focused on a member-centric financial solution aimed at enhancing KDF’s mission readiness.
“In line with the Chief of Defence Forces’ vision of providing a workable welfare framework that enhances the forces’ efficiency, DESACCO continues to develop soldiers’ tailor-made services that are relevant and critical at achieving the mission,” he said.
DESACCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Colonel Nehemiah Kemei encouraged the delegates to continue sensitizing KDF personnel on the importance of being Sacco members.
Housing Finance Bancassurance Intermediary (HFBI) Principal Officer Ms Maurine Wairimu, said that DESACCO members would immensely benefit from services such as motor vehicle insurance, home insurance, medical insurance, education policies as well as personal accident covers following the recently signed partnership agreement.
DESACCO has membership comprising of both serving and retired Service Personnel.
In attendance were the Camp Commandant Kahawa Garrison Colonel Samson Kasura, Senior Officers, representatives from Cooperative Consultancy and Bank Insurance, Sacco Society Regulatory Authority, Nairobi County Cooperative Ltd, SkyWorld Ltd, Officers and Service Members.
