The Deputy Commander Kenya Army (D/COMD), Major General Mohamed Nur Hassan, presided over the closing ceremony of the Army Unit Small Team Training (AUSTT), held in Samburu County on 25 September 2024.
During his address, Major General Hassan emphasized the importance of training in ensuring that troops acquire the best skills and maintain a high level of readiness. He encouraged the participants to apply the tactics learned during the training to effectively accomplish future missions. He also praised the soldiers for their dedication and teamwork in meeting the training objectives.
“I congratulate you for your dedication, determination, and for applying yourself fully to meet the set training objectives. I also wish to appreciate the efforts of the Commandant and his team for their devotion and sacrifice in ensuring the success of the training,” said the Deputy Commander.
The training concluded successfully, with troops demonstrating proficiency in a range of areas including tactical and technical skills, personal and special weapons handling, close-quarter combat, hostage rescue, patrols, small unit tactics, and range work.
Present at the event included Brigadier Benedict Mzee, Chief of Training Headquarters Kenya Army; Brigadier Ahmed Saman, Commander of the Army Special Operations Brigade; Lieutenant Colonel Abraham Lagat, Commanding Officer of 9KR; and Lieutenant Colonel Hillary Kimosop, Commanding Officer of 33 MIB among others.
