DEFENCE STAFF COLLEGE HOLDS ANNUAL CULTURAL DAY

Today, the Defence Staff College (DSC) held its annual cultural day in Karen, Nairobi under the theme ‘Fostering regional cooperation through the strength and beauty of diversity.’

The event brought together Officers studying Grade Two Staff Course at the college drawn from ten countries namely: Botswana, Burundi, Egypt, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

The celebration was marked with various traditional songs and dances with the participating students showcasing rich cultures in traditional regalia, food, tools and artefacts.

DSC Commandant Major General Peter Njiru, while presiding over the event, said the occasion offered a great opportunity for the course participants to appreciate the diversity of cultures in society towards promoting cohesion.

“Our forefathers used our rich cultures to resolve and manage issues. It is my conviction that we should safeguard and strengthen our cultural roots,” said the Commandant.

Present during the event were Defence Attaches from represented countries, Senior Military Officers, Officers, family members and invited guests.
