DEFENCE SECRETARY ADMINISTRATION ENGAGES CIVILIAN DRIVERS ON ROAD SAFETY

The Secretary of Administration in the Ministry of Defence Mr Isaac Masinde convened a Road Safety sensitization session with civilian drivers at the Defence headquarters in Nairobi.

The objective of the meeting was to conduct a comprehensive review of past performance and discuss pertinent issues in the Ministry’s transport sector.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr Masinde commended the civilian drivers for their dedication and invaluable contribution to the Ministry.

“I am pleased to meet you all to discuss issues relating to transport. The ideas shared will aid us in providing better services,” stated Mr Masinde.

He emphasized their pivotal role in ensuring seamless logistical operations and underscored the importance of their commitment to safety and efficiency.

Mr Masinde applauded the interactive nature of the meeting, which he said had provided a conducive environment for the exchange of ideas and strategies to enhance service delivery. He stressed that road safety is crucial as it helps prevent and reduce accidents and urged drivers to exercise caution while on the road adhering to road safety guidelines.

During the session, the drivers shared the challenges they encounter in their duties, including vehicle maintenance issues.

Mr Masinde promised to address the issues raised by the drivers but also advised the drivers to proactively deal with emergency issues for the smooth operation of the transport division.

He said that the Ministry will in the short to medium term implement measures to further improve the effectiveness and reliability of transport services for the staff.
