DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS ACADEMY HOLDS GRADUATION CEREMONY

The Defence Headquarters Academy recently held a graduation ceremony presided over by the Commanding Officer of the Defence Headquarters Camp Admin Unit, Lt Col Wycliffe Baraza. The event, held on Thursday, 24 October 2024, marked a significant milestone for pupils in Pre-primary 2 (PP2) and Grade 3, who will advance to the next grade level in the coming year.

The ceremony began with a procession led by the Kenya Army Band, followed by the hoisting of the Kenyan flag by school scouts at the parade square. Pupils performed songs and recited poems, celebrating their achievements and the completion of this stage in their education.

Ms. Beldina Atieno, the Head Teacher, expressed her gratitude to parents for their continuous support of the teachers’ efforts. She highlighted the strong collaboration between parents and teachers, which has been essential in nurturing the students.

Ms. Atieno also emphasized the importance of parental supervision during the upcoming holidays, especially concerning children’s online content consumption.

Additionally, Ms. Atieno shared the academy’s future plans to expand into Junior Secondary School (JSS), which will soon accommodate Grade 4 learners, ensuring continuity for the current students. She assured parents of graduating Grade 3 pupils that there would be no need for transfers, as structures for Grade 4 are already in place.

In his address, Lt Col Baraza acknowledged the parents’ support and commended the teachers for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. He congratulated the graduates for their achievements and wished them a joyful holiday season.

The event concluded with the awarding of certificates and gifts to the graduates, attended by the school Board of Management, military officers, service members, parents, and representatives from the Defence Headquarters Education Office.
