Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale today chaired a meeting for the Board of Trustees for the Defence Forces Medical Insurance Scheme (DEFMIS) at Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.
The meeting aimed at apprising the Board members on the progress the medical insurance scheme has made since it’s enactment and to draw a clear roadmap on enhancing service delivery, with a view of achieving it’s mandate.
The CS stated that the entire leadership of the Ministry of Defence remains committed to ensuring that the retired members of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) live dignified lives after serving the County with dedication and valour by offering them quality and world class medical care.
The members received a comprehensive brief from DEFMIS Director, Brigadier Moses Leriari. The brief entailed the status of the Scheme, it’s achievements as well as the plans and programmes it has rolled out to enhance customer service.
In his remarks, Hon. Duale expressed gratitude for the milestones the Scheme has realised by maintaining high standards of service delivery despite the tough and challenging times.
He noted that, to enhance customer service, DEFMIS has embarked on an automation exercise by investing heavily in the latest technology to attain the highest standards possible.
The CS challenged the Board of Trustees to explore new avenues of growth, innovative ideas and advocate for policies that promote the health of members.
Also present in the meeting were the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla, Vice CDF Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi, Service Commanders, other General Officers as well as senior military officers.
