CDF VISITS MARIAKANI GARRISON

On Thursday, 17th October 2024, Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri visited Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers at Mariakani Garrison as part of his ongoing command visits to various KDF establishments.

The CDF was received by Mariakani Garrison Commander, Brigadier Joseph Mokwena, who guided him in laying a wreath at the KDF Heroes and Heroines Commemoration Monument. General Kahariri then inspected ongoing infrastructure projects within the garrison.

During his address to the KDF personnel, the CDF emphasized the importance of integrity, selflessness, and high moral standards in service. He urged the soldiers to remain committed to the KDF mission, reminding them to uphold the values they pledged during their oath.
“Do not deviate from your goals, keep offering your services to the country as per your oath,” General Kahariri stated.

Major General Luka Kutto, the General Officer Commanding Eastern Command (GOC-EASTCOM), also addressed the soldiers, highlighting the importance of family support in sustaining a military career.

The visit was attended by several General and Senior Officers, including Major General David Keter, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics (ACDF P&L), and Brigadier Elijah Gatere, Chief of Personnel at Defence Headquarters.

The hosting team included Lieutenant Colonel Japhet Lairumbi, Commanding Officer of the 15th Battalion Kenya Rifles (15KR), and Lieutenant Colonel Peter Mugwika, Commanding Officer of the 77 Artillery Battalion.
