Ulinzi Stars has today thrashed Mathare United Football Club 3 -1 in a rollercoaster match played at Ulinzi Sports Complex – Langata.
The visiting team seemed to have the better side of the game for the first 20 minutes but failed to maintain the tempo for the rest of the time.
A defensive mix up on the 22nd minute by Mathare United defenders, allowed Boniface Muchiri, the Ulinzi midfield talisman to pounce in the net, dribbling past two defenders before placing the ball past Mustaphar Oduor, the Mathare United custodian with the game ending one goal in favour of the Soldiers in the first half.
In the second half, Mathare United galvanised themselves, and what looked like an easy sailing for Ulinzi Stars came to an immediate halt in the forty seventh minute when Donald Ange equalised from a close range.
Ulinzi Stars re-grouped, pressured, and their efforts paid off in the seventieth minute from a superb work out from the right flank from Clinton Omollo with a brilliant cross finding .
With five minutes added, Brian Ongoma, the Ulinzi Striker, made it 3-1 when he headed home from a cross beating the Mathare United stopper off guard.
Ulinzi Stars FC is currently at position five on the KPL table, while Mathare United FC is currently in the relegation zone.
